Jiangnan Imperial Examination Hall, where ancient candidates fought for their future

Location: Beside Qinhuai River, Qinhuai District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province

Introduction: Jiangnan Gongyuan, also known as Jinling Gongyuan, is located beside Qinhuai River in the south of Nanjing City, adjacent to Confucius Temple. It was originally built during the Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty as the Yingtianfu Provincial Examination Gongyuan, and continued to be used in the Qing Dynasty as the Jiangnan Provincial Examination Gongyuan. After the division of Jiangnan Province, the Provincial Examination Gongyuan was shared by Jiangsu and Anhui Provinces. It is the largest imperial examination venue in ancient China.
During the Republic of China period, it was the seat of Nanjing Municipal Government. In 1989, relying on the Jiangnan Gongyuan building, the Jiangnan Gongyuan History Exhibition Hall was built. In 2017, it was converted into the China Imperial Examination Museum.

Opening hours: 9:00-22:00
