Okayama|Korakuen, a Different World in the Edo Period

How crazy are rich people? More than 300 years ago, Ikeda Tsunamasa, the second lord of Okayama, built this Korakuen Garden, which covers an area of more than 130,000 square meters, behind Okayama Castle. Rockeries, huge rocks, flowing water, and the four-season garden are just for relaxation and entertaining guests. In the Edo period, such garden landscapes were considered to be another world.
Three hundred years later, this place became one of the three famous gardens along with Kenrokuen and Kairakuen. When the weather is fine, you can take a stroll in the garden or sit in the pavilion and enjoy the scenery, and feel the wealth of the Ikeda family back then.
