[🇯🇵Okayama] Visit Okayama Castle with its beautiful black exterior

Why is it called the Crow Castle?
Okayama Castle is affectionately known as the "Crow Castle" due to its black lacquered exterior. This jet-black exterior, which is different from that of ordinary castles, creates an exquisite contrast with any seasonal scenery, such as blue skies, fresh green leaves, autumn leaves, and snowy scenery, and attracts the attention of visitors. The castle tower was burned down in war damage, but was rebuilt in 1966 and still retains its majestic appearance today.

Exhibitions that make you feel the weight of history
The castle has been developed as a history museum, and there are many exhibits about the history of Okayama from the Sengoku period to the Edo period, as well as the castle's lords Ukita Hideie and Kobayakawa Hideaki. There is also an experience corner where you can try on replica armor and take photos, making it a spot that both adults and children can enjoy.

The view across the Asahikawa River is also recommended
Okayama Castle is located on the banks of the Asahikawa River, and the view of the castle across the river is very picturesque. Especially in the evening, the castle is reflected on the surface of the river, creating a beautiful view. The view from the neighboring Korakuen Garden is also popular, and the castle's appearance in harmony with the nature of the four seasons is worth seeing.

Access and surrounding information
It can be accessed by tram or bus from Okayama Station, and there are many other attractions in the surrounding area, such as Okayama Korakuen Garden and the Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art. It is a perfect area for sightseeing while enjoying a stroll.
