Lijiang Ancient Town Specialty Food---Firewood Chicken (Hongfeng Restaurant)

Come to Lijiang Ancient Town to eat "firewood chicken"! ?
At first glance, you might think it’s turkey that tastes dry and woody, but it’s actually chicken cooked over wood! The three specialties of Dali, Lijiang and Lugu Lake: firewood chicken, mushroom stone pot chicken and steam stone pot fish.

I chose Hongfeng Restaurant on Shangri-La Avenue in Lijiang Ancient Town and ordered the signature firewood chicken. The boss would first light the fire, heat the pan and stir-fry it quickly over high heat, then cover the pan and simmer it until cooked. The whole cooking method is very similar to Hong Kong-style Huadiao chicken, and the taste is also similar to Sanbei, salty and fragrant.

What’s more special is that it doesn’t come with white rice, but pot-side pancakes, which are served with salty and fragrant chicken. It neutralizes the heavy taste and greasiness and adds a fresh and sweet flavor! It's worth a try.
