Tsūtenkaku

Tsutenkaku (Tsutenkaku) is a landmark in Osaka's Shinsekai district.

• Name: Tsutenkaku (meaning "Tower that Reaches the Sky")
• Location: Shinsekai, Naniwa Ward, Osaka City (near Dobutsuen-mae Station and Ebisucho Subway Station)
• Construction Year: The current tower was built in 1956 (the original tower was built in 1912 but demolished during the war)
• Height: Approximately 103 meters (the observation deck is approximately 94 meters high)
• Characteristics: A symbolic landmark of Osaka and the tourist centerpiece of the Shinsekai shopping district.

• Observation Deck: Overlooking downtown Osaka, and even glimpsing Osaka Bay on clear days.
• Golden Fortune God, the God of Gamblers: The observation deck houses a statue of the Fortune-Attracting Buddha, said to bring good luck if touched. • Shinsekai Shopping District: The area surrounding the tower boasts a Showa-themed streetscape, with snack shops and kushikatsu (fried-fried skewers) shops, making it a great place to experience Osaka's popular culture.

• Kushikatsu (kushikatsu): A Shinsekai specialty, with numerous shops offering a great way to enjoy a bite while strolling.
• Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki: Easy to find near Shinsekai.

• Subway: Walk to Dobutsuen-mae Station on the Midosuji Line or Ebisucho Station on the Sakaisuji Line.
• JR Namba Station: Transfer to the city subway or walk for approximately 15 minutes.
