I went to Omi Shrine⛩️, the sacred place of karuta, where "Chihayafuru" is set!!!

The movie "Chihayafuru" was actually filmed at this Omi Shrine, and autographs and posters of the cast were on display🫶

It is a shrine that enshrines Emperor Tenchi, who wrote the first poem of the Hyakunin Isshu, and is known as the sacred place of karuta!!!

It is the venue for competitive karuta tournaments, and the karuta tournament scene in "Chihayafuru" was also filmed here📷

There is a "Karuta Lottery" where you can draw one of your choice from the "reading cards" and "taking cards" of the Hyakunin Isshu that are actually used in competitive karuta!!!

The Hyakunin Isshu card you draw comes with a keychain, so you can keep it as a key holder🙆♀️

It costs 300 yen per time and is very cute, so if you visit, please draw your favorite Hyakunin Isshu!!!

Hyakunin Isshu are displayed in the precincts, and the vermilion gate that is the image of Omi Shrine is a fun place to visit even if you are not familiar with karuta, so please be sure to check it out when you travel to Shiga🙏
