is the most famous architectural icon in Paris and a global symbol of France. Located on the Champ de Mars on the banks of the Seine River, this tower was built for the 1889 Exposition Universelle (World Exhibition) as the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution.  
Brief History
This tower was designed by engineer Gustave Eiffel and his team, including Maurice Koechlin, Émile Nouguier, and architect Stephen Sauvestre. Construction began on January 28, 1887 and was completed on March 31, 1889, in just 2 years, 2 months, and 5 days.  
Interesting Facts
• Height: Originally 300 meters, now reaches 330 meters after adding an antenna. 
• Weight: About 10,100 tons. 
• Material: Consists of 18,038 iron parts joined together with 2.5 million rivets. 
• Visitors: Around 7 million people per year, making it the most visited paid monument in the world. 
• Nickname: Also called "La Dame de Fer" or "The Iron Lady". 
Early Controversy
When it was first built, the Eiffel Tower received sharp criticism from Parisian artists and intellectuals who thought it was damaging to the city's aesthetics. However, over time, this tower has become a symbol of modernity and national pride. 
Role in History
The Eiffel Tower not only functions as a tourist attraction, but also has an important role in history. During World War I, this tower was used to send military radio signals. In addition, Gustave Eiffel has a private apartment on the top of the tower that was used for scientific experiments.  
Visits and Facilities
This tower has three levels that can be accessed by visitors, with a restaurant and observation deck that offers a spectacular view of the city of Paris. In addition, this tower is also equipped with six elevators that facilitate access to various levels.
