A visit to Petra is surely the highlight of a trip to Jordan . I spent the entire day there , and regretted not booking a 2 night stay in Petra , as the site is enormous, and very worthy of the time spent exploring the ancient city . Founded by the Nabataean civilization, Petra is known as the Rose city. Apart from the world famous Treasury and Monastery , be sure to hire a guide to the Tombs and the amphitheater . Definitely a bucketlist destination !
