#WatMahathat is one of the historical parks of PhraNakhonSiAyutthaya. Construction began during the reign of King Borommarachathirat I in 1917 and was completed during the reign of King Ramesuan in 1927.

WatMahathat is a royal temple and the residence of the Supreme Patriarch of the Khamwasi sect. It was used for various religious ceremonies before WatPhraSriSanphet was built.
