The only temple in Ayutthaya that was not burned down by the Burmese
🎈At Wat Na Phra Meru Ratchikararam, Royal Monastery
🎈Location: Lumpli Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province
🎈Wat Na Phra Meru Ratchikararam, Royal Monastery, was built in the early Ayutthaya period in 2046. This temple is the only temple in Ayutthaya that was not burned down by the Burmese, so it still retains its Ayutthaya architecture. The reason it was not burned down was because the area in front of the temple was chosen as a strategic location for the royal army of the Inwa Kingdom. When the Burmese won the war, the King of Inwa ordered this temple to be spared.
🎈The early Ayutthaya architecture of the ordination hall enshrines Phra Phutthanimit Wichitmaromoli Si Sanphet Borommatrailokanat, the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall, built at the end of the Ayutthaya period. It is a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, cast from bronze, dressed in royal attire. It is the largest Buddha image in the Ayutthaya period that exists today.
🎈Inside the small temple or Sanphetch temple, there is a green stone Buddha statue or Phra Kanthararat, sitting with his feet dangling from the Dvaravati period, which was brought from Wat Mahathat during the reign of King Rama III of the Rattanakosin period.
