— The capital of the once-flourishing Ayutthaya dynasty (1351-1767).

It was destroyed in a war with the Burmese army, and many of the buildings were burned down, but the ruins that remain are magnificent and speak quietly to us...



📍[Location & Access]

🚌 From Bangkok to Ayutthaya:

• Train: About 1.5 hours (from Hua Lamphong Station)

• Minibus: About 1 hour (from Mo Chit Station)

• Taxi or Grab: About 1 to 1.5 hours (around 1,500 baht one way)

🚲 It's convenient to rent a bicycle locally (50 to 100 baht a day)!

📌 Wat Mahathat
→ Mysterious ruins with the famous "Buddha head buried in tree roots". Photo spot📷✨
📌 Wat Phra Si Sanphet
→ Spectacular three chedis (stupas) remaining at the royal palace ruins! A place said to be the symbol of Ayutthaya
📌 Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon
→ A temple with a large reclining Buddha and an impressive pagoda. The red robes are impressive🧡
📌 Wat Lokayasutharam
→ The huge reclining Buddha (8m high, 42m long) lying in the open air is a sight to behold!



🕰【Tips for visiting ruins】
• Early morning or evening is recommended as it is cooler🌅
• It gets hot during the day, so a hat, water, and sun protection are essential!
• The entrance fee varies for each ruin, and is around 50 baht per site💰
• Be careful with your clothing⚠️ You may not be able to enter if your skin is too exposed (same etiquette as at temples)
