🏯 Wat Chaiwatthanaram – Ayutthaya’s Riverside Beauty

Visited Wat Chaiwatthanaram in the afternoon and was instantly blown away by its grandeur. The entry fee for foreigners is 80 baht, and honestly, it’s worth every bit for the scale and beauty of the place.

Set right by the river, this temple complex is dominated by its central prang, surrounded by smaller towers and long corridors lined with headless Buddha statues — remnants of Ayutthaya’s turbulent history. The afternoon light cast a golden hue on the ancient bricks, making the whole scene feel almost cinematic.

Walking through the grounds, you get a strong sense of Ayutthaya’s past glory. The symmetry of the layout, the worn yet elegant carvings, and the peaceful riverside breeze make it one of the most atmospheric sites in the city.

It’s a bit more open and expansive compared to other temples here, so bring water and a hat. And if you love photography, this is a dream spot — the views from every angle are stunning.
