🌸Wat Phra That Cho Hae, a royal temple, has long been a sacred site in Phrae and holds great significance for Buddhists, especially those born in the Year of the Tiger. This is because Phra That Cho Hae is the chedi for those born in the Year of the Tiger, according to Lanna beliefs. Inside the chedi, relics of the Lord Buddha and his hair are enshrined. Paying homage to the chedi brings good fortune, happiness, and prosperity in life and career. It is also believed that offering fine silk will bring protection from enemies.
🌼In addition to paying homage to the chedi, the temple also houses numerous sacred objects and interesting historical sites for visitors to worship and pray for blessings. These include Luang Por Than Jai, or Phra Chao Than Jai, a sacred Buddha image popularly worshipped for prayers and vows, believed to bring swift fulfillment. Other attractions include the Reclining Buddha, Burmese-style, and Luang Por Cho Hae, the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall, which is a centuries-old Lanna, Chiang Saen, and Sukhothai-style image. A visit to Wat Phra That Cho Hae is not just a tourist attraction, but also a perfect way to practice Dhamma and receive blessings. There's a saying that if you visit Phrae Province and don't pay homage to Phra That Cho Hae, it's like you haven't even been to Phrae Province.
