When in Phrae, a must-see is "Phra That Cho Hae," a sacred chedi representing the city and the sacred relic for those born in the Year of the Tiger.

✨ Sacredness and History
Phra That Cho Hae is located on Cho Hae Road, Cho Hae Subdistrict, Phrae Province. According to legend, it was built around 1336–1338 during the reign of King Maha Thammaracha (Lithai). It features an octagonal chedi with twelve recessed corners, made of brick and plaster covered with brass sheets, and beautifully lacquered and gilded in a Chiang Saen style. Inside, it contains the Buddha's hair and left elbow relics.

Ubosot: Enshrining Luang Pho Cho Hae, the principal Buddha image, in a blend of Lanna and Chiang Saen styles.

Vihara: Applied Lanna style, enshrining the Buddha Lokanat Bophit in the Naga Parak posture, with beautiful murals.

Teak Buddha: Carved from golden teakwood, Lanna style.

Reclining Buddha: Constructed of brick and mortar, lacquered and gilded in Burmese style.

Antique Pulpit: Carved from teakwood in a blend of Thai and Lanna styles, lacquered and gilded.
