As the saying goes, “No matter how high Mt. Tai is, it is not as high as Mt. Laoshan in the East Sea,” Qingdao is famous not only for its beer but also for its beautiful natural scenery, Mt. Laoshan.
Recently, as sustainable living and slow aging have become trends, interest in mountaineering has steadily increased. How about enjoying a different kind of mountaineering in a nearby overseas country?
Mt. Laoshan is well known not only for its beautiful natural scenery, but also as a holy place for Chinese Taoism. In particular, it is even more special because of the 50-meter-tall statue of Laozi, the founder of Taoism. This statue is the largest statue of Laozi in the world, and is said to be as high as a 20-story apartment building.
I took the subway from downtown Qingdao to Mt. Laoshan. Since public transportation is well-developed, if you have time, I recommend taking the bus or subway to visit.
