The Uzbek Shah Jinda Mausoleum, meaning "Eternal King" in Persian, consists of 13 mausoleums and a mosque, housing the burials of Muhammad's cousins and the ruling families of Samarkand.
It's beautiful, not so much a mausoleum as a neatly planned community. Compared to the magnificent, golden walls of Timur's tomb, I prefer this beautiful blue silence. The meticulous architecture, unique colors and Mosiac mosaics, and intricate dome design give the entire corridor a unique Central Asian feel. It's a must-see when visiting Samarkand.
