Hainan Island West Route Self-Drive Map!

The west route of Hainan doesn't require early rising to catch the sunset every day, making it perfect for lazy sunset watchers. I also noticed there are more cycling enthusiasts on the west route than the east.

I arranged a 5-day trip along the west route, which you can adjust based on your own schedule.
·
Day1️⃣ Sanya → Yazhou Ledong (about 100km)
Key experiences:
📌 Tianya Town: Popular spot with seaside guesthouses and many cafes, good for surfing.
📌 Dadonghai Xiaodonghai: If you just want to take Bali-style photos at the entrance, that's fine.
📌 Shallow Sea Time: A rotating church, very photogenic.
📌 Yazhou Ancient City: Explore thousand-year-old history and culture, experience the lively atmosphere of the arcade streets.
📌 Baoping Village: Features connected Qing Dynasty ancient buildings like Zhang Family Mansion.
📌 Yinggehai Salt Fields: Southern China's largest salt field, perfect for aerial photography, with a tourist station called "Yingge Singing at Night" designed by a master.
🏨 Accommodation suggestion: Many seaside guesthouses near the Yinggehai Lighthouse.
·
Day2️⃣ Ledong → Dongfang (about 180km)
Key experiences:
📌 Yulin Island: Lighthouse and windmill coast; during low tide, you can collect seafood on the rocky beach.
📌 Baicha Village Boat Houses: 600-year-old Li ethnic minority thatched houses.
📌 Exian Ridge: Karst landscape known as "Little Guilin," hike Jiufeng Mountain, possibly encounter wild sika deer.
·
Day3️⃣ Dongfang → Changjiang (about 90km)
Key experiences:
📌 Basuo Fishing Port: Visit the lively morning market to buy fresh seafood.
📌 Dongfang Black-faced Spoonbill Nature Reserve: A tidal flat where you might spot black-faced spoonbills if you're lucky.
📌 Qizi Bay: Divided into three sections - Large Corner, Middle Corner, and Small Corner. The Middle Corner's rock formations are ideal for sunset silhouette photos, while the Large Corner has fine sand beaches for swimming.
📌 Changjiang Mushroom Houses: "Where We Are Going" TV show filming location.
🏨 Accommodation suggestion: Many hotels available at Qizi Bay.
·
Day4️⃣ Changjiang → Danzhou (about 160km)
Key experiences:
📌 Guanhai Bridge North Viewing Platform: Cross-sea bridge, impressive for aerial photography.
📌 Longgang Beach: Features a stranded giant ship similar to the "Brewis."
📌 Ocean Flower Island: Well-equipped facilities, especially suitable for families with children.
📌 Thousand-Year-Old Salt Fields: The most well-preserved sun-dried salt production site.
📌 Dongpo Academy: Learn about Su Shi's exile history in Hainan.
📌 Longmen Rapids: Volcanic rock coastline, what I consider the most beautiful coastal road on the east route.
·
Day5️⃣ Danzhou → Haikou (about 130km)
Key experiences:
📌 Guangcun Silver Beach: Good for collecting seafood, with very fine sand.
📌 Lingao Cape: Hainan Liberation Memorial site with a 7km coastline for walking.
📌 Chengmai Yongqing Temple: Tang Dynasty style Zen temple built by the sea, where you can find peace copying scriptures.
·
👉 Having completed both east and west routes of Hainan, only the central route remains - I'll summarize that for you next time!
