[Hokkaido] A collaboration of snow, the Great Buddha, and Moai! Makomanai Takino Cemetery

Makomanai Takino Cemetery is located a little away from the center of Sapporo, Hokkaido.

The innovative design of the "Head Buddha" by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando has been a hot topic, and it is now known as a popular spot in Sapporo.

In the harsh winter, it transforms into a snow-covered Head Buddha.

Normally, only the head sticks out from the canopy dome when viewed from the outside, but in winter, it is a surreal sight with a protrusion sticking out from the snow field.

In addition, the Moai statues standing in the snow field and Stonehenge are buried in snow.

At the front entrance, there is a winged statue of the guardian deity of Persepolis, a human-faced beast god, and the Twelve Heavenly Generals of Buddhism, creating a surreal and chaotic world.

The concept of this cemetery is to create a tombstone spirit that transcends sects. Garden

Therefore, it also incorporates the Seven Wonders of the World, which were once built for religious ceremonies.

Please come and see this surreal world view and the giant Buddha, which is unlike anything else in the world.
