The Hokkaido Government Library was built in 1923 to commemorate Yukihiro and now has a history of 100 years. This building, which combines the functions of a library and an art museum, was reborn in March 2016. It was designed by the world-renowned architect Tadao Ando and renamed Kitakaro Sapporo Main Building.
There are various snacks on the first floor, and as a well-known Hokkaido brand, it is very suitable as a souvenir. Going up the ancient stairs, the original appearance of the library is still preserved, and the old stone bricks and walls reveal the vicissitudes of time.
The connection between the new wall and the old building is not at all inconsistent. The unified color scheme makes the transition very natural and even imperceptible.
The second floor is where the cafe is located, and the high ceiling design makes the window view particularly layered. Outside the window, passers-by and vehicles are hurrying by. Beiguolou is proud of its strawberry cake and ice cream. This plate of dessert costs less than 50 yuan, which is very cost-effective. The cream is full of the rich milk flavor of Hokkaido, and the cake base is very soft. Every one of them is delicious!
