The Art of Matcha at Sutera Mall’s Hidden Gem

#summervacay Furiku Matcha at Sutera Mall was such a surprising find. Tucked away in a small corner near the entrance (Shop G‑027a), this little kiosk-style spot brings a whole matcha experience rather than just another drink. You don’t just order from a menu—they let you choose your own matcha strength (easy, intermediate, or advance), your base (we went for the strawberry yogurt), and top it off with your pick of premium toppings. We chose the matcha gelato, of course.

What made it extra special was watching the whole process unfold. Right in front of us, the staff began the ritual of whisking matcha from scratch—the bamboo whisk moving in smooth circles in a little glass bowl, the deep green powder dissolving into a velvety swirl. It’s kind of meditative, and it really adds to the appreciation of what you’re drinking.

Our combo of matcha strawberry yogurt with matcha gelato was perfect. The yogurt was slightly tangy and refreshing, which balanced beautifully with the bold, earthy matcha flavor. And the gelato? Smooth, rich, and subtly sweet—just enough to complement everything without being overpowering. It felt like a very intentional, crafted dessert-drink hybrid.

Outside the mall, there’s something that really completes the whole vibe—a bright red torii gate standing tall near the entrance. It’s unexpected in a shopping mall setting, but somehow works. It gives the place a little cultural charm, like a soft nod to Kyoto streets or a hidden alley in Japan. That little touch sets the tone even before you walk in, and honestly, it matches the quiet elegance of Furiku really well.

If you’re in Sutera and love matcha, this is a stop worth making. Come for the drinks, stay for the experience.
