Mabul Water Bungalows > Kapalai Water Bungalows hands down 🙌🏻

Two months ago I travelled to another water resort in Semporna - Kapalai Resort. Although I was completely mesmerized by its scenery, I wanted to try out a different resort this round, booked a 4 nights trip at Mabul Water Bungalows with my family.

In the morning, we onboarded to a private boat to Mabul Water Bungalows (about 45 mins boat journey from Semporna jetty). Upon arrival, we were greeted politely by the resort staffs, and served warm towel & welcome drink individually. Then we were given a private resort tour, the resort staff was friendly and provide us many useful information bout what activities we can do onboard. after the briefing, we had our lunch before checking in to our room. The room comes with a private chilling deck, and 2 lounge chairs, which are what I loved most bout the resort. the room is spacious and clean.

In comparison, I personally think in most aspects Mabul Water Bungalows has it better than Kapalai.
1. Room is bigger and more spacious. the chilling deck area is bigger too.
2. Foods are so so much better even though the food options were limited
3. Top-notch service. My brother had upset stomach before coming to Mabul and spent his day resting in room. the resort staffs were nice enough to cook him congee personally, and offered him medication, they even checked in with his condition on the next day. Great hospitality.
4. Not too crowded.
5. Kayak is free of charge

the only downside of the resort is the water surrounding Mabul water bungalow wasn’t that clear compared to Kapalai. in Kapalai, we could see all types of fishes and turtles anywhere we go, but in Mabul, we hardly see any fishes.

overall, my family enjoyed staying in Mabul water bungalows and we’d definitely visit again in future!
