Tosocho Ginseng Chicken Soup is located next to Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul. It is an old Korean house with an antique style and has been open for more than 40 years. It has a table area, a low wooden table, a traditional Korean warm wooden floor, and a shoe-removing seating area.
There are kimchi and pickled radish on the table for guests to help themselves for free. If they are out of stock, you can ask the service staff to add more! I have eaten this many times. I have eaten some kimchi that was amazingly delicious, and I have also eaten some that tasted just average. I guess it’s because the people who pickled the kimchi have different tastes!
There must be a whole ginseng in the ginseng chicken soup. The chicken is usually about seven weeks old, and the belly is stuffed with glutinous rice. The chicken is tender and not dry, and the glutinous rice absorbs the thick soup. It is super delicious!
Ginseng Chicken has regular chicken and black-bone chicken for customers to choose from. Of course, the price of black-bone chicken will be a little higher🤏🏻! After ordering, the service staff will bring you free barley tea and "ginseng wine" to go with the ginseng chicken soup. The ginseng wine has a strong alcohol taste and can be drunk directly or added to the ginseng chicken soup to enhance the flavor!
You can also add a cute little can of "cultured ginseng roots" and stir it into the ginseng chicken soup! The cultured roots have the effect of strengthening the body, but they don’t really have much flavor when added to soup!
There's usually a long queue of people coming in front of this place, so the business is really good, but there are actually a lot of seats inside, and the turnover rate is fast, so you don't have to wait too long!
In winter, when it’s cold, there is a barbecue at the entrance hall for guests to keep warm, which is super thoughtful!
I have tried ginseng chicken soup from many restaurants, but the one at Tusu Village Ginseng Chicken Soup is the most amazing. I have to try it every time I come here! 😋
