Although Seoul has been experiencing some gloomy and damp weather recently, a nature-filled mini trip still feels amazing! I recently made a special trip to Haneul Park, which is currently in the pink muhly grass season. While only half of the grass has bloomed, the dreamy pink sea is already picture-perfect 💖. As for the silver grass, it hasn’t reached its peak yet, but it’s expected to be even more magical from late October to early November. In this trip, I aim to share the real-time status of Haneul Park, some photography tips, and transportation information to help you plan your Seoul grass-viewing trip without any hiccups!
🌳 Highlights of Haneul Park
Haneul Park (서울 하늘공원) is a highly popular nature spot in Seoul’s Mapo District, especially during the pink muhly grass and silver grass seasons. The vast grass fields paired with Seoul’s skyline create a dreamy backdrop for photos! The park is relatively easy to access, and visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll, escaping the city’s noise. It’s one of the top autumn recommendations for a relaxing outing.
📸 On-Site Experience & Photo Tips
Upon arriving at the park, you’ll be greeted by a vast expanse of pink muhly grass. Although only half of it has bloomed, the visual effect already showcases a layered gradient of colors. The overcast weather adds a unique misty beauty to the photos (the fine rain makes the grass look even more delicate). For the best photos, visit on a brighter day or before sunset. If it’s drizzling, you can capture some ethereal misty shots.
The silver grass hasn’t reached its peak yet, but you can already spot patches of budding fields. For the best silver grass views, plan your visit between mid-October and November. Even though the pink muhly grass isn’t fully in bloom, some areas already feature small seas of grass, perfect for strolling and photography.

🏪 Nearby Tips
- There aren’t many restaurants nearby, so it’s recommended to bring your own snacks or drinks. Locals often buy a cup of Korean rice wine (막걸리) or coffee from small shops near the downhill path to enjoy in the park.
- There are some restrooms along the way, but expect queues during busy times.
- The park is vast with clear signage, so it’s easy to navigate without getting lost.
- Autumn weekends can be crowded, so visiting on weekdays or in the morning is recommended.
- Photography Tips: On cloudy days, wear lighter-colored clothing to stand out against the pink grass or silver grass background. Don’t forget a windbreaker to protect against rain or strong winds.
🍴 Food Recommendations
After exploring Haneul Park, you can relax at the nearby World Cup Park Cafe or enjoy dinner at one of the fried chicken or Korean BBQ restaurants around the World Cup Stadium area.
🌄 Key Travel Tips
The pink muhly grass is now in its early bloom stage, so visit by the end of October to see it at its peak! For silver grass, patience is key—it will be at its best in November. When planning your autumn trip to Seoul, check the weather forecast in advance and prepare rain gear or windproof clothing. The site may have light rain and strong winds, so wear non-slip shoes for safety.
