Golden Gate Hotel, a century-old Italian-style hotel

The Golden Gate Hotel was completed in 1926, eight years earlier than the International Hotel, and was the tallest building in Shanghai at the time. The hotel's building plan is in the shape of an "I" character, and its facade adopts the neoclassical Renaissance style to form a three-section structure. The main entrance is built with marble columns, stone beams, stone walls and stone steps, and the stone steps are in the shape of a figure eight leading directly to the lobby on the second floor. The interior of the hotel is gorgeously decorated, with exquisite stone carvings on the stone pillars and stone ceilings.
Tips: You can buy the International Hotel's butterfly cakes in the hotel's theater cafe. Although you buy them by the piece, it's worth it because you don't have to queue.
