Jinjiang Hotel's British Gothic-style Jinbei Building was built in 1925. The 13-story building combines the excellent architecture of the 1920s with the decorative style of the 1980s. Whether it's the crab leg staircase, copper door iron decoration, or the unique floor indicator clock in the elevator hall, it still exudes a classic and perfect temperament after more than 70 years of wind and rain. Jinjiang Hotel, founded by Ms. Dong Zhujun, a pioneer of the Chinese women's rights movement from Nantong, is located on Maoming Road in the city center and is a garden-style hotel. It has received nearly 300 heads of state and government from more than 100 countries, as well as many merchants and tycoons. The hotel's north building was built in 1929, and its architectural features integrate European traditional style and modern facilities. In July 1999, the newly renovated North Building reopened, with facilities configured to five-star standards. The reopening also included a Jinjiang Small Auditorium that once witnessed the Sino-US Joint Shanghai Communique. The renovated Jinjiang North Building not only retains some of the styles of the past, but also adds modern facilities and decorations, becoming a luxury hotel building in Shanghai.
