Recently stayed at Shanghai Anlu Hotel Zhujiajiao, truly the pinnacle of Jiangnan villa-style hotels. The hotel was jointly designed by national treasure-level ancient architecture craftsmen, an Australian lighting design team, and Malaysian architect and interior designer Mr. Feng Zhijun. The vibe is absolutely amazing.
⭐️ Anlu Hotel is located in the famous Jiangnan water town of Zhujiajiao, right next to the ancient town. It’s a peaceful retreat in the midst of the bustling city, with deep courtyards. The design fully respects the environment, blending with nature, embracing the landscape, staying close to culture, preserving the shape of Huizhou-style architecture, drawing inspiration from Jiangnan gardens, and creating a modern aesthetic elegance.
⭐️ Zhujiajiao Anlu Hotel consists of 35 independent villas along with hotel facilities including restaurants, a lobby, gym, and swimming pool. The property is very large. Walking from the hotel lobby to the rooms feels like traveling through the ancient Jiangnan water town, with a new scene at every step, full of unique charm.
⭐️ Part of the hotel lobby is a two-story old residence. The central skylight ensures the traditional Chinese interior never feels dark. Besides preserving many traditional Chinese architectural elements like pillars, beams, and roof tiles, there are also many cultural decorations such as the Four Treasures of the Study, musical instruments, chess, calligraphy, and painting, which naturally evoke a literary and artistic atmosphere.
⭐️ The hotel rooms are the biggest highlight of Zhujiajiao Anlu Hotel. There are 35 villas restored to their original style, each an independent villa with its own small courtyard, ensuring privacy and tranquility. The rooms feature a blend of Chinese and Western layouts, with a south-facing single-story villa design with three openings. The central opening is the living room and study, flanked by the bedroom and open bathroom. The integrated floor-to-ceiling bathtub faces the courtyard, creating a very relaxing vibe. The roof mimics the arched shape of a black-awning boat, fresh and elegant, perfectly interpreting the Jiangnan water town style.
The villas are divided into four categories by size: Yangting Pavilion, Dongwan Pavilion, Tinglan Pavilion, and Chiyuan Pavilion, all equipped with panoramic courtyard view suites and private exclusive gardens.
⭐️ The hotel’s all-day dining restaurant offers local specialties and other Asian cuisines. The restaurant is adjacent to the hotel pool, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls allowing guests to enjoy the outdoor pool view while dining, very pleasant. There is also an open terrace restaurant offering a rich selection of exquisite light luxury delicacies.
⭐️ The hotel also provides diverse entertainment facilities. Besides a spacious indoor pool and comfortable body and mind spa, the hotel complements the temperament of Zhujiajiao ancient town by offering rich experiential activities such as Tai Chi, tea ceremonies, and guqin (ancient zither) performances, giving a strong cultural connotation.
The overall stay experience was excellent, truly the pinnacle of Jiangnan water town villa hotels.
