On a light rainy day in Shanghai, we decided to escape the city's hustle and headed to Zhujiajiao, an ancient water town over 1,700 years old.
Although it drizzled all day, the rain made the town look soft and warmly charming. The sound of raindrops hitting wooden roofs and the aroma of local snacks wafting from small shops by the canal made us feel like we had traveled back in time.
We walked across the ancient stone bridge, stopped by a local tea shop, and visited the quiet Guanyin temple by the canal. The rain-soaked trees, old buildings, and their reflections in the water brought an unexpected sense of peace.
Though a little wet, it felt like a very special ordinary day. If you come to Shanghai and want a quiet place to rest your mind, we highly recommend this spot 💧🌿
Must-visit check-in spots
• Fangsheng Bridge: A 5-arched stone bridge, 70.8 meters long and 7.4 meters high, built during the Ming dynasty. It is famous for being the bridge used in the fish release ceremony to gain merit.
• Yuanjin Temple: The Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) temple built in the Yuan dynasty and restored during the Ming and Qing dynasties, offering a peaceful atmosphere full of faith.
