Stealing a slow moment before Mid-Autumn at Alila Shanghai
A healing oasis hidden in the hustle and bustle of Jing’an, this must be what Alila Shanghai feels like. Stepping into the morning light of the start of autumn, dappled shadows filtered through wooden shutters. I joined my best friend for an Alila Mid-Autumn event~
The air was filled with a faint scent of tea. Learning to make pankou buttons with Teacher Fang, my fingertips wrapped silk threads slowly outlining patterns. Only then did I realize how much delicacy of old Shanghai is hidden in these small pankou buttons—turns out the exquisite details on qipaos are the gentle accumulation of generations of artisans~
Then we went to the organic garden on the 5th floor to pick lemon thyme covered with morning dew, which instantly became the fresh soul of the snow skin mooncakes. The mooncake gift box co-branded with Xinghualou really touched my heart. The box I made myself was wrapped in blessing paper, holding it felt like holding a warm bundle of reunion wishes~
The greenery of the courtyard flowed into the glass windows, just in time for lunch~ I had to try the set meal at Yingtin Japanese Restaurant, choosing the Australian Wagyu M7 set. The tender grilled Wagyu topped with a hot spring egg~ Chef Bian said, “Let the ingredients speak for themselves.” It turns out that treating a meal seriously really softens the heart~
