Zhongdian Ancient Town, also known as Shangri-La Ancient Town

Zhongdian Ancient Town, or Dukezong Ancient Town, is located at an altitude of 3,200 meters. It is an old town in Shangri-La County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is also a crossroads of the Ancient Tea Horse Road between Yunnan, Sichuan, and Tibet.
Dukezong Ancient Town in Shangri-La has the charm of Tibetan culture, stone-paved alleys, golden-roofed wooden houses, and a quiet atmosphere. There is Dafo Temple, a very large prayer wheel, which is beautiful for taking pictures. There are also traditional cafes and shops selling yak butter tea, barley snacks, and Tibetan souvenirs such as hand-woven cloth and prayer flags.

The weather is cool all year round, but sometimes the wind is strong. Because it is 3,200 meters high, you may experience some altitude sickness. Walking in the morning or evening is the best atmosphere. This is a quieter spot than Lijiang, not too crowded
