Songzanlin Temple...Little Polatana of Shangri-La

Songzanlin Monastery is considered the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Yunnan, and is believed to be a small version of Polatā. Inside, the temple features numerous paintings. Photography is permitted outside, but not inside. Admission fees vary depending on the season. A basketball cart is provided inside the temple grounds to take visitors inside. Visitors, both Chinese and foreign, often dress in traditional Tibetan clothing to take photos. Chinese photographers are available to take photos for 20 to 30 yuan per photo, depending on the negotiating method. For those visiting, Chan Kla recommends this place.
