A winter trip to Shaoxing Yellow Rice Wine Town is a quiet and flavorful experience.

Today, I set off from Hangzhou, took Metro Line 2 from Fengqi Road Station to Xiaoshan People's Square Station, transferred to Line 5 to Guniangqiao Station, and then transferred to Shaoxing Metro Line 1 to Yellow Rice Wine Town Station. The seamless connection between the stations is so convenient! 👍 After exiting Yellow Rice Wine Town Station, I saw a sign saying "North Entrance of Yellow Rice Wine Town 500m." It wasn't a holiday, so there were few tourists. The town was quiet, and the narrow alleys were clean and comfortable. This seemingly ordinary town is actually Dongpu Town, which has a history of over 1,600 years. It is the hometown of the great Tang Dynasty writer He Zhizhang, the patriotic Southern Song Dynasty poet Lu You, and the Xinhai Revolution martyr Xu Xilin. I visited Xu Xilin's former residence and learned about his life. In the backyard, there was a bluestone table where he used to study and play as a child. I could almost hear the sound of him reading aloud. Dongpu Town is also famous for its traditional winemaking techniques and is known as "Yue wine is famous worldwide, and Dongpu wine is the best." The wine jars piled up along the river and the faint aroma of wine in the air, along with the various wine utensils displayed in the street taverns, have earned it the nickname "Yellow Rice Wine Town." Walking around this quiet town was a rewarding experience. When I got tired, I sat by the river or under an ancient bridge, drank hot tea, and enjoyed Shaoxing cuisine at the "Yuelai Noodle House" at the entrance of the town. I sipped Shaoxing wine and listened to the owner tell stories about the town in the authentic Shaoxing dialect. It was a flavorful experience. 👍
