Shenyang Twin Palaces: From the Forbidden City to the Marshal's Mansion

📜【The Shengjing Code in the Three Axes of the Forbidden City】
The Shenyang Imperial Palace is one of the only two remaining royal palaces in China. This magnificent complex, built in 1625, secretly contains three parallel timelines—
The East Axis’s "Ten Kings Pavilion" tells the grassland memories of the Eight Banners' council, while the warm chamber and dragon motif in the concubines' sleeping palace on the West Axis witness the fusion of Manchu and Han cultures. The most striking is the Chongzheng Hall on the Central Axis, where Emperor Huang Taiji ascended the throne. The plaque above the dragon throne reads "Zheng Da Guang Ming" (Upright and Bright), identical to the one in Beijing’s Forbidden City, but it predates the Forbidden City by a full 20 years!

🏛️【Republic of China Romance in the Great Qing Mansion】
Passing through the bustling market street opposite the palace on Zhengyang Street, you turn a corner and suddenly enter the European-style arcade of Zhang Xueliang’s former residence. This Sino-Western blended mansion is like a three-dimensional textbook of Republic of China history:

The blue bricks in the courtyard where Zhang Xueliang and Yu Fengzhi held their traditional wedding still remain, but the spiral staircase in the Great Qing Mansion now echoes with the sound of Miss Zhao Si’s high heels. The most touching is the Zhao Yidi Building—Miss Zhao Si, who gave up her status for love, waited 36 years for recognition in this pink little building. The piano by the window still preserves the look from 1936, the last time she played it.

Standing on the terrace of the small Qing Mansion, you suddenly understand why the Young Marshal said, "No regrets in life, only love for women"—the fierce love stories are hidden in the northeastern north wind.

At dusk, standing under the Phoenix Tower of the Imperial Palace, watching the sunlight flow over the glazed tiles of the Chongzheng Hall, you suddenly understand why this city can harbor both decisive emperors and tender generals—Shenyang’s soul has always been a gilded texture forged by iron blood and romance.

(The entire route is within a 15-minute walk, especially suitable for a slow tour with elders. The hotel’s robot delivery service is perfect for families tired from sightseeing~)
