Shirakawa Snow Trip❄️

📅 Itinerary

Day 1: Kick off your snowy adventure by flying into Osaka!✨ For a chill night before the long journey ahead, I crash at Kyoto. Trust me, staying at Kyoto (M's Hotel Kyoto Station Kasuga) makes tomorrow’s travels sooo much easier.

Day 2: Vibe check—hop on a train to Kanazawa! Before you set off, grab the Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass (THATP) at Kansai Airport. This pass is a total game-changer, letting you ride pretty much all transportation in the Hokuriku area. Once in Kanazawa, channel your inner explorer and stroll Kanazawa Castle Park (1-1 Marunouchi, Kanazawa, Ishikawa 920-0937, Japan, Opening Hours: Mar–Oct 15, 7am–6pm | Oct 16–Feb 28, 8am–5pm) and get lost in the beauty of Kenroku-en Garden (1 Kenrokumachi, Kanazawa, Ishikawa 920-0936, Japan, Opening Hours: Mar–Oct 15, 7am–6pm | Oct 16–Feb 28, 8am–5pm). Don’t sleep on the artsy vibes at Higashi Chaya District and the architectural flex at Kanazawa Station East Square (2 Kinoshinbomachi, Kanazawa, Ishikawa 920-0858, Japan, always open)! Hotel for the night: Chisun Budget Kanazawa Ekimae.

Day 3: Let’s GOOO to the winter wonderland! 🚄 Jump on the Hokuriku Shinkansen and head to Shin-Takaoka. From there, ride the Kaetsuno bus to Shirakawa-go (use THATP for both!), and soak in those snow-capped fairytale vibes. Don’t miss Shirakawa-go itself (Ogimachi, Shirakawa, Ono District, Gifu 501-5627, Japan, open all day, all year) and the iconic Wada House (山越997 Ogimachi, Shirakawa, Gifu, 501-5627, Japan, 9am–5pm). Absolute bucket list territory!
