Shizuoka is one of the most tranquil and well-preserved natural areas in Japan. Despite being close to Tokyo, it offers a completely different atmosphere, and throughout the trip, the view of Mount Fuji added a special touch to the experience.
First, I visited **Miho no Matsubara (三保の松原)**. The breathtaking scenery of the pine forest stretching along the coastline, the blue sea, and the majestic Mount Fuji towering in the background was truly overwhelming. Walking along the beach and feeling the sea breeze was refreshing for both the body and mind.
Next, I headed to **Lake Motosu (本栖湖)**, one of the Fuji Five Lakes. The weather was clear, allowing me to witness the stunning reflection of Mount Fuji on the lake, known as **Sakasa Fuji (逆さ富士)**. Seeing the view depicted on the 1,000-yen bill come to life right before my eyes was awe-inspiring. The quiet surroundings of the lake made it perfect for camping and kayaking.
Another highlight was the Shizuoka tea fields. The endless stretches of green tea plantations with Mount Fuji in the background created a picturesque scene that couldn't be fully captured in photos. The locally brewed tea had a richer and smoother aroma and taste compared to others.
I also had time to visit the Izu Peninsula, where the coastal scenery and Atami hot springs showcased a different charm. Soaking in a hot spring while gazing at the ocean was the ultimate relaxation.
Shizuoka is a perfect natural travel destination where you can enjoy mountains, seas, lakes, hot springs, and tea fields without the crowds. It's highly recommended for anyone looking to relax and admire Mount Fuji from various angles.
