Signagi is a small town in Kakheti Province in eastern Georgia, about 110 kilometers from the capital Tbilisi, about a 2-hour drive. It is famous for its nicknames such as "Love Town" and "Red Wine Town". It is a place full of romance and historical heritage.

History and architecture of the town
The history of Sighnaghi can be traced back to the 18th century, when it was ordered to be built by the last Georgian monarch, Erekli II, in order to protect local residents from the looting of Caucasian mountaineers and to attract merchants and craftsmen. The town's name comes from the Turkic language and means "fortified residence" or "fortress". It preserves 4.5 kilometers of ancient city walls and 23 towers, and is one of the largest fortifications in Georgia.

Why is it called "Love Town"?
Sighnaghi is known as the "Town of Love" for several reasons. First of all, there is a marriage registry that is open 24 hours a day, and many couples choose to register their marriage here. In addition, there are many romantic love stories circulating in the town, such as a woman who, after her husband died, cultivated the grape seedlings at the bottom of the cliff into vines, symbolizing loyal love.

Georgia is one of the birthplaces of wine in the world, and the Kakheti region where Sighnaghi is located is an important wine producing area. The town's wine is made from snow-capped mountain water and is of extremely high quality. Every autumn, a wine festival is held here, showcasing a variety of wines and handicrafts.
