Muke Bookstore, a poetic art space on the corner of Taihu Lake

Recently, Muke Bookstore in Guangfu Town, Wuzhong District, has become a hit on Suzhou residents' social media. Many locals and tourists come here to read, drink coffee, and watch birds. Accompanied by the warm sun, lake views, and black-headed gulls, they enjoy a relaxing winter leisure time.
Drive west along Huan Taihu Avenue to the end, and you will reach the courtyard of the Taihu Fishing Port Sketching Base, where Muke Bookstore is located. The main building of the bookstore is an old factory with vines climbing all over the outer wall. After careful renovation, Muke Bookstore has been reborn among bricks, tiles, grass, and trees, becoming a cultural space integrating books, art, and coffee.
The bookstore has a collection of more than 10,000 books, mainly poetry, creating a strong cultural atmosphere. Walking through the bookstore, you will find many woodblock prints hanging or placed on the walls and corners, mainly in the style of abstract art. The bookstore also regularly holds book clubs, bonfire parties, and other activities.
Outside the bookstore, the lakeside space is uniquely designed, with a wooden trestle bridge winding and extending, connecting the bookstore and the lakeshore. Walking on it, you will feel like you are walking in a picture where nature and humanity blend. Next to the trestle, on the stone path under the trees, you can often see tourists stopping to take photos to capture this beautiful moment.
Every late autumn and early winter, black-headed gulls from distant Siberia fly to Taihu Lake, and Chongshan Village is one of the best places for bird watching. Flocks of black-headed gulls are flying freely over the lake outside the bookstore, sometimes skimming the water and sometimes soaring high, adding vitality and vigor to the lake view. Many photography enthusiasts come here to capture the beautiful scenery of Taihu Lake in different seasons and the moving scenes of black-headed gulls flying.
