China’s Leaning Tower: A Millennium of Architectural Wonder

#hellohalloween

Tiger Hill is synonymous with the Yunyan Pagoda, often nicknamed "China's Leaning Tower of Pisa." This magnificent seven-story, octagonal brick structure, completed in 961 AD, is the park's centerpiece and a landmark of Suzhou. Due to unstable foundations (part rock, part soil), the 47-meter tower visibly tilts by over two meters at its peak, an architectural phenomenon that has endured for centuries. While visitors can no longer climb inside for safety reasons, admiring its elegant, sloping form from the Thousand People Rock provides a powerful connection to the resilience of ancient Chinese engineering and Buddhist history.
