Taicang Museum - The Yuan Dynasty Ancient Ship Exhibition
The Yuan Dynasty Ancient Ship Exhibition is a major feature of the Taicang Museum, located in the atrium of the museum.
In May 2014, a wooden sunken ship was discovered during the dredging of the Banjing River section in Wanfeng Village, Taicang City, which is the largest wooden sunken ship found in Jiangsu Province in recent years. Archaeological identification determined that the ship was built during the Yuan Dynasty, with a history of over 660 years. The restored ancient ship is 19.80 meters long, 5.55 meters wide, and 1.71 meters high, with all its various parts intact.
The Taicang Yuan Dynasty ancient ship demonstrates the advanced shipbuilding technology of ancient China, showcases the glorious splendor of Yuan Dynasty sea ships, and reflects the brilliant history of ancient Taicang as a major port for maritime transport and foreign trade.
