Grand Hi Lai Hotel, Taipei, Island Buffet Restaurant

#GrandHiLaiHotelTaipei #IslandTalkBuffet

My 7th visit to the island, this time after a 4-month hiatus 😅
Enjoyed another 3-hour lunch ❤️
$1490/person after a 10% discount with the co-branded card

The weekday lunch/dinner price difference is $300, and the meal times are only half an hour apart, so the difference between the tables isn't significant, so I ended up having lunch there.

The weekend tables aren't much different: lunch and afternoon tea are both 2.5 hours, and dinner is 3.5 hours, but you can get a half-tail lobster per seat, depending on your preference. ☺️

IslandTalk features eight islands themed around refreshing, sumptuous, shimmering, delicious, fresh, roasted, stewed, and colorful. Its signature feature is a wine pairing for each island, perfect for pairing with your meal. Over 200 dishes

The Nangang location is designed in a long, narrow space. This time, I sat in Area C (at the very end, near the drinks area), which was a distinct disadvantage.

Only desserts and fruit were convenient. The cocktail, fresh food, and grilling areas at the entrance were quite far away.

Sheng: Raw seafood counter with sake.

This area is the biggest battleground after the crowds arrive. The sashimi and nigiri are excellent, but there's always a line for the first hour.

Fresh: A variety of fresh cold cuts, appetizers, and salads paired with white wine. Today's red crabs are large and sweet, and crab roe lovers shouldn't miss the fragrant box crab!

Braised: Paired with red wine.

In addition to freshly seared scallops and prawns, there's also a premium steakhouse-style grilled meat selection: freshly seared American steak (filet), rosemary lamb chops, and tomahawk pork chops.

Choose two of the three grilling stations. It seems you can order more if there's no line after 1 p.m.!

Meals, paired with millet wine.
Classic Chinese dishes include Michelin-recommended Fuyuan's Dongpo Pork, Mingrenfang's Abalone Shaomai, Crispy Roasted Cherry Duck, Abalone, Squid, Conch, Garlic, and Changchun Rolls (finally, they're serving the food directly).

The Cherry Duck is truly delicious! 🥰

Pots, various freshly prepared soups, and pots.
Amazingly, the XO sauce oyster pot here isn't as good as Han Lai's, but adding the fragrant crab roe and two pine crab claws really elevates it! ✌️

Qin, a beverage station, includes Bar TCRC, a multi-time Asia's 50 Best Bars award winner. The co-branded cocktails and Taihu Craft Beer co-branded beer are excellent, and the sparkling wine section is also quite good, and the cocktails have all been revamped.

The Taipei-exclusive Hi-Long Lai is quite good 🥂

Shuo, paired with a refreshing fruit vinegar drink.

The fried and grilled station offers warm oysters, fried oysters, fried shrimp, fried abalone, and other Japanese fried items.

Bin, a happy dessert.

No new items this time, just a simple bite.

The meal was pretty standard, but it still left a good impression. 🥰
