Ah, sisters! The Shanxi Museum is truly a treasure trove! 💎
🚶♀️ Itinerary share:
This time I joined a one-day small group tour (including Jin Temple + Shanxi Museum guided tour). Although a bit rushed, it was totally worth it! Three hours just isn’t enough~ 2 hours of guided tour + 1 hour of free time, you simply can’t see it all!
🏛 Stunning artifacts:
- Bronze ware exhibition: The carved details on the bronzes are amazing! 👀
- Murals and polychrome sculptures: Well preserved and lifelike! Even more exquisite than Dunhuang~
- Dynastic span: From Shang and Zhou all the way to Ming and Qing, it’s like a time tunnel ⏳
(Address: No. 13, North Section of Binhe West Road, Wanbailin District, Taiyuan City)
⌛ Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday 9:00-17:00, closed on Monday
✨ Personal feelings:
1️⃣ Fewer people, better experience! Much less crowded than Dunhuang, so you can quietly appreciate it
2️⃣ The eight major exhibition halls house over 500,000 artifacts! Every single one is breathtaking
3️⃣ The only small regret: When I went last August, the cultural and creative products were limited, couldn’t find the souvenirs I wanted 😭
📸 Photo tips:
Be sure to capture the details of the bronzes! The texture of the ancient bronzes under the light and shadow is incredible! Recommend bringing a telephoto lens~
A little reminder ⏰:
- Remember to book a guide online in advance! Look for experienced ones with an archaeology background. Many guides inside the museum are volunteers who usually just tell legends and recite objective explanations from books, without explaining from the perspectives of architectural structure, polychrome sculpture painting, or the shape and actual use of unearthed artifacts
- Please do not use flash photography inside the exhibition halls
- The third-floor rest area has an amazing view, don’t forget to enjoy the panorama while resting!
