Hida's oldest temple, Hida Kokubun-ji

Hida Kokubun-ji is a thousand-year-old temple located in Takayama, Japan. It is located at 506-0007 Gifu Prefecture, Takayama City, Sowamachi 1-83, about a 5-minute walk from JR Takayama Station. Admission is free. The temple is like a wise and gentle old man, quietly telling stories of the past and present. Inside the temple, a thousand-year-old ginkgo tree stands tall, with lush branches and leaves that provide shade. In the center of the trunk, a small Buddha guards the tree, adding a touch of romance and tranquility to the ancient temple. The main hall, the oldest building in Takayama City, has withstood the test of time and remains solemn. Inside the hall, Yakushi Nyorai and Kannon Bodhisattva are enshrined, their compassionate gaze seemingly able to see into people's hearts, providing endless comfort and strength. Strolling through the temple, whether it is the rebuilt three-story pagoda or the bell tower gate said to have been moved from Takayama Castle, every visitor can feel the unique charm of Hida Kokubun-ji.
