Tawau is located in the southeastern part of Sabah, Malaysia, with an ideal geographical location, facing the Sulawesi Sea and backed by inland mountains.
It is the third largest city in Sabah and the capital of Tawau Province. The town is divided into three districts: Sabindu, Fajia and Old Tawau. Fajia is a modern business district with many banks; Old Tawau has a central market and port, as well as a beautiful mosque and many shops.
Tawau has a developed economy and has huge plantations. It is the third largest cocoa producer in the world and was once known as the "Cocoa Capital of Asia." Fishery resources are also extremely rich, and the shrimp farming industry is prosperous, providing high-quality seafood to surrounding areas.
The place is endowed with unique tourism resources. Tawau Mountain National Park has beautiful scenery, natural picnic areas, vast campsites and holiday homes. Visitors can swim, picnic, soak in hot springs here, and enjoy beautiful scenery such as Table Falls. Sipadan Island and Mabul Island are paradises for diving enthusiasts, with colorful underwater coral reefs and a wide variety of marine life. In addition, the food in Tawau is not to be missed. The fresh seafood and special Malay food at the seaside food stalls are mouth-watering.
