[Ueno] Tokyo National Museum Permanent Exhibition

[Gateway to Japanese Art|Tokyo National Museum, Main Building Special Room 3]
An interactive permanent exhibition opened in 2021. It is designed to “see, touch, and experience” the core of Japanese art, making it a welcoming entrance exhibit even for beginners.
Room 11 in the Main Building (Japanese Art and Sculpture Exhibition): A calm space inspired by temple halls, featuring wooden, lacquered, and gilt bronze Buddhist statues that you can appreciate up close for their three-dimensionality and texture.

Even those who might feel hesitant about visiting an art museum will find this approach surprisingly enjoyable. The space is filled with fresh experiences such as Japanese folding screens, replicas of Buddhist statues, and high-resolution digital displays.
