Shibamata - Yamamoto-tei: A Dialogue with Historic Architecture

Yamamoto-tei is located behind Shibamata Taishakuten, within a 10-minute walk from Shibamata Station. It features a traditional Shoin-style architecture combined with Western architectural elements. It was the home of Einosuke Yamamoto, the founder of the locally connected Yamamoto Factory (camera parts manufacturer), built in 1920.

This Taisho-era architecture blends traditional Japanese Shoin style with Western influences, creating a unique East-meets-West design. The lush and exquisite Japanese garden is the main highlight.

After entering from the back of the house next to the traditional tea room, you can visit the interior by simply removing your shoes and paying the admission fee. The facility provides multilingual guidebooks that include the history of Yamamoto-tei and the layout of its interior spaces. The spacious and well-ventilated rooms are designed so that the garden can be seen from any side.

Inside, you can leisurely enjoy Japanese tea and traditional sweets while gazing at the garden, creating a truly wonderful and happy moment.

To pursue that happy and peaceful time, I sometimes want to visit. I want to visit again and again.
