Today, LocalGuides_TH would like to take you on a journey through the famous anime "Demon Slayer" (Kinetsu no Yaiba). Let's see where we're going!
1️⃣ Okawaso Hotel 📍Fukushima
The area features a striking design with traditional Japanese terraces arranged in steps. In the center is a floating stage for performances of the shamisen, a traditional Japanese musical instrument. The atmosphere makes one feel like they're in the "Boundless Castle" of the Demon Lord Muzan Kibutsuji, where everything within the castle is upside down and directionless. This is especially evident in the scene where the female demon plays the biwa in the center of the castle.
2️⃣ Ashikaga Flower Park 📍Tochigi
One of the most beautiful wisteria gardens in Japan, the highlight is the nearly 100-meter-long wisteria tunnel and the giant wisteria tree, over 140 years old. This place is credited as the inspiration for "Mt. Fujikasan" in the Demon Slayer series, where the demon slayer imprisoned the demon. Because at the foot of the mountain, wisteria blossomed, frightening demons, preventing them from escaping. It was also the site of the selection of swordsmen for the group.
3️⃣ Itto-Seki Splitting Stone 📍Nara
One of Tanjiro's most difficult tests involved splitting a giant rock in half with his sword. In Japan, a similar rock actually exists in Nara Prefecture, called the "Itto-Seki Splitting Stone." Legend has it that a samurai named Yagyu Munetoshi fought a tengu, a Japanese demon, and swung his sword in half, splitting both the tengu and the giant rock behind him in half.
4️⃣ Seki, the City of Sword and Knives Production 📍Gifu
This city has been renowned for its swordsmithing for over 800 years. Although the exact location of the swordsmith village in Demon Slayer remains unknown, Seki is a strikingly similar location, boasting clear water and abundant minerals, perfect for smelting high-quality iron. It has become a center for skilled swordsmiths.
5️⃣ Mount Kumotori 📍Tokyo, Saitama, and Yamanashi
The Japanese call it the "mountain that reaches for the clouds." This is the backdrop for the Kamado family home, where Tanjiro used to cut firewood to sell in the city. If you want to experience the atmosphere of the anime, visit in winter, as the mountain is blanketed in pure white snow, just like in the story.
6️⃣ Kamado Shrine 📍Fukuoka
This shrine is famous for granting wishes for love. However, Demon Slayer fans are particularly interested in it because its name resembles the names of the characters "Kamado Tanjiro" and "Kamado Nezuko." Inside the shrine, you'll find wooden plaques where people have written their wishes. Some are even depicted with characters or anime lines from Demon Slayer.
7️⃣ Kyoto Railway Museum 📍Kyoto
This is where the "Eternal Train Battle" arc begins. The museum houses a steam locomotive of the same model as the one featured in the anime!
