Flaming Mountain: A Journey to the West Comes Alive

#chinatrip

As a fan of the classic tale Journey to the West, I was thrilled to visit the infamous Flaming Mountain, a pivotal setting in the legendary story. This scorching hotspot, infamous for its sweltering temperatures reaching up to 80°C in summer, was once the obstacle course for Sun Wukong, Pigsy, Sandy, and Tang Sanzang on their quest for Buddhist Scriptures.

I couldn't resist snapping a photo with the giant thermometer, a testament to the extreme heat. The villainous Fan Princess's legacy lives on, her iron fan still fanning the flames in my imagination.

Fortunately, our final destination, Grape Valley, offered a refreshing respite. This serene gated community, nestled amidst lush vineyards, boasted crisp, cool air and a crystal-clear stream flowing with snowmelt from nearby mountains. A perfect conclusion to our Flaming Mountain adventure!
