#Travel by train The Vientiane Express train travels to Luang Prabang in just 2 hours. It is one of the high-speed rail projects in Laos that connects to China. This train station is located about 20 kilometers outside of Vientiane. It is conveniently accessible by bus, arriving at the station at 1:30 p.m. This train departs Vientiane at around 3:00 p.m. and arrives in Luang Prabang at 5:00 p.m. It is divided into three classes: the most expensive business class, the first class, and the second class. I got the second class, which was the cheapest at around 280 baht. The seats are divided into rows of 6 people, 3 seats on the left side and 3 seats on the right side. On the train, there are clean restrooms and staff pushing carts to sell drinks and clean up.
