I encountered a squirrel while walking around Otatomari Swamp!

Numaura Otatomari Swamp

A swamp located about 30 minutes by car from Oshidomari Port, the ferry terminal that connects Wakkanai and Rishiri (Oshidomari).

Otatomari Swamp is located in Numaura Marsh, the largest marsh in Rishiri.

I met two squirrels while walking along the promenade, which took about 20 to 30 minutes to go around!

One of them was eating. Its fur was shiny and cute!

There is a shop near Otatomari Swamp, so you can easily buy souvenirs and enjoy seafood.

I even saw some roasted corn!

The easiest way to get around Rishiri Island is by car, but it is also recommended to rent a bicycle at the ferry terminal and enjoy cycling!
You can enjoy the sea by walking along the road, and you can enjoy the forest by going along the well-maintained cycling road.

It takes about 7 hours to go around the whole island by bicycle, but the breeze is cool and there are shops and rest spots along the road where you can drink spring water.
