Northern Hokkaido Road Trip!

We finally made it to Wakkanai—Japan’s northernmost city! It was a long drive (seriously, so far), but the wide-open roads and views along the way made it fun. We visited Cape Soya (Soya Misaki), the northernmost point of Japan. Standing there, looking out at the sea, really felt like we were at the edge of the country.

Later, we stopped by a rice paddy art—a full picture made just from colored rice plants! I had only seen that in photos before.

On the way back, we stopped for a little beach time for our kid and caught the most beautiful sunset. The kids ran around barefoot while the sky turned pink and gold. it was simply the best sunset I ever seen.

It was a long journey, but northern Hokkaido has this peaceful, open feeling that makes it all worth it. Definitely one for the family memory book!
