🇨🇳 A Pause in Wuyuan — Where Tradition Flows with the River Tucked between misty mountains and en

Tucked between misty mountains and endless tea fields, Wuyuan is often called the most beautiful countryside in China. Though we only stopped here briefly on our way to Shangrao, the town itself offered a surprising sense of calm and charm that made even a short stay feel special.

The entrance to Wuyuan is completely free, yet the town feels like an open celebration of Chinese culture. Around every corner, there are traditional performances, folk music, and evening shows that bring to life the rhythm of rural Anhui and Jiangxi.

🌿 People Litai Central Square is the heart of Wuyuan — a lively meeting point surrounded by glowing lanterns, street food stalls, and locals gathering to enjoy open-air concerts. At night, the atmosphere becomes almost dreamlike, with the square echoing with traditional melodies and laughter.

Just a short walk away, the Le’anjiang River glides peacefully through the town, reflecting the lights of bridges and willow trees. Walking along its banks in the evening feels timeless — a simple, beautiful moment between journeys.

🚉 Our stop in Wuyuan:
After leaving Tangkou, we took the bus to Tunxi, and from there, another one to Wuyuan, arriving in the early afternoon. From the Wuyuan Bus Station, it’s an easy walk to the railway station, but we decided to explore a bit before catching our train to Shangrao. That short stroll — from the central square to the river — became one of the most peaceful memories of the trip.

💡 Travel notes:
• You don’t need a ticket to explore Wuyuan town itself — it’s open and welcoming.
• Even if you’re only stopping between connections, take time for a walk by the Le’anjiang River — it’s worth it.
• Evening events and folk performances often take place at People Litai Central Square; check the local schedule if you have time.
• The area around the railway station is easy to explore on foot — perfect for a few hours between trains.
